The Historian The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

I will definitely reread this book. And I do not do that very often if at all. There were many statements that I thought were perceptive and throughtful. I recommended it to my bookclub. Several didn't like the fact it was a translation and some didn't like that it was about a child. And, they couldn't find it currently at Target. So, whatever. We shall see what they think next month.

Blizzard #1 2009

Just a picture of the birds in the birdfeeder. No school today.

Back from Boston

Fast and furious trip to Boston to provide company to LeAnn as she received trombone lessons from professors from the Boston Conservatory and the New England Conservatory of music. My sister, Beth, went along to provide assertive behavior. Day one, we did Harvard square and the Music area by Fenway Park. Day two we did the Freedom trail which took us all the way to Bunker Hill. We stayed in the Theater District downtown. Got to the Principle Mall area and ended up in Tiffanies. Weather went from 50 degrees and sunny on Friday to rainy on Saturday. Saturday night we ate at the "No Name" restaurant by the bay. Got there during a heavy snowstorm. All kinds of weather. Beautiful place and I hope LeAnn ends up going there. I would love to go back and finish looking around. Everyone friendly and the public transit was exceptional.

Fathers Day

We spent Fathers Day in Iowa City at Kent Park, a Johnson county park. Here is Father with his two daughters. Of course, Mom is taking the photo. The girls bought Frank fishing lures for his Quetico fishing trip in a couple weeks. The girls found some black raspberries on a walk we took which were delicious. LeAnn played with a snake at the Conservation Center. She also found a little bitty frog.

Adventures in a Pop-Up

Taking a trip to Iowa City today and camp. The "Res" has camping but might be full so we are gambling that we will get in. Fathers Day is Sunday so we will get together for some bonding time. Frank is making some bread, I am getting clothes, food, and equipment organized. It is a big production camping. We have a Pop-Up camper with all the luxuries. It has a refrigerator, air conditioner, running water. It may sound a little close to a regular contained camper, but it isn't. I can still unzip all the windows and feel like I am outdoors, not shut up in a aluminum mobile unit.
